New job, new post

As you may or may not know I decided that my job at the physical therapy clinic was not for me. There were a lot of factors why it wasn't a good fit for me, but they all were so frustrating and I was so sick and tired of everything that I had to quit. The scary part was that I don't really have a steady full time job set up. I am going to be the "head personal trainer" at LA Fitness, where I have been doing part time work for the past 4 months, until something better comes along. The job doesn't pay well for my experience, nor do I have a full schedule of clients, but they are coming a long. We have enough in savings to hold us over for a while, but it sucks to not have the income we had last week.

Anyways, I started my first day yesterday, which is a normal day for me to be there all day. The rest of the week is sporadic with clients but hopefully I will be able to have clients come in more often or for a longer session so I can start to fill my schedule.

Now, on to my workouts. I have worked out everyday for the past 9 days! I am proud of myself and realize that I am happy to be taking today off. Every workout I had, had improved in time/ speed or amount of weight lifed, even if it was hard as heck.

11/9
I was sick the whole week prior and couldn't do anything, I even had to call in sick on Wednesday. So i was really raring to go. I did two crossfit workouts. One was max reps of pullups and the second was 7 x 1 cleans (max). I did 7 pullups and maxed out at 115# power cleans. I couldn't even do one regular pullup before I started doing crossfit nearly 4 months ago.

11/10
This day was a crossfit day. It was:
5 rounds for time
25 inverted burpees
25 pullups
25 burpees

Here is a video of what an inverted burpee looks like:

I was still feeling sick, so I only did 3 rounds and was feeling dizzy after doing the inverted burpees so I did the roll up with a jump at the top, no handstand. I completed this in 19:52

11/11
CFE
1min on, 1 min off, 1 min on, 50 sec off, 1 min on, 40 sec off, 1 min on, 30 sec off, 1 min on 20 sec off, 1 min on, 10 sec off, then go back up the ladder until you finish with 1 min on, 50 sec off, 1 min on.
My total "on" distance was 1.48 miles, equalling a pace of 5:59 min/mile. This workout was really hard at the time and was pretty exhausting.

11/12
Over lunch on this wednesday I ran 2.5 miles for a time trial (basically see how fast you can do a specific distance for). I rand it in 16:08 for a pace of 6:28!!! It sucked, I tell you what. When I was done and I calculated my pace I thought, "well, that's why it was so hard, I was flying."

11/13
This day was a CF Hero workout: Jason. Here is something from the crossfit website on Jason: "S01 (SEAL) Jason Dale Lewis was killed by an IED while conducting combat operations in Southern Baghdad July 6, 2007. We name this workout "Jason" in honor of his life, family, and courage. Donna, Jack, Max, and Grace, we'll forget neither your husband and father nor your sacrifice and loss. Fair winds, Jason."
I love doing the hero workouts because I always push myself harder because I kick my own ass for the hero. Do it for Jason, Go harder for Jason I tell myself.
Here is the workout:
For time: 100 Squats 5 Muscle-ups 75 Squats 10 Muscle-ups 50 Squats 15 Muscle-ups 25 Squats 20 Muscle-ups

Here is what I did: 100 Squats 15 pullups (64# asst) 15 dips " 75 Squats 30 pullups (64# assist) 30 disp " 50 Squats 45 pullups (64#) 45 dips 25 Squats 60 pullups (64# assist) 60 dips (64# assist) . I completed it in 20:33.

The next day I really felt those squats, and pullups....and dips. Ok, I was pretty sore the next day or two.

11/14
CF
I completed: 5 rounds for time: 65# hang power snatches x 15 400m run in 24:11. The Rx was 5 rounds for time: 95# hang power snatches x 15 400m run. This one had my shoulders and traps sore for days!

11/15
This day I maxed out in squats 5x1 at 210#. On Sept 30th my max was 175#. Go crossfit!!

11/16
This was a crossfit restday and I needed to get one more run in. I was waiting for this day so I could get either a long run or a time trial in again. That day was a 10k tempo run at 95% (RPE 18-19)

I ran the 10k in 44:08, a 7:07 min/mile pace and around 4:30 faster than I ran it on Sept 29th!!

11/17
On this day I did double duty (CF and CFE so I could take a rest day today. First I ran a hill (7% grade on treadymill), 3/4 mile with 2 min rest then repeat. My first .75 was 6:20 and my second was 6:39. It was a lot harder than I thought it'd be.

In the evening CF was Helen, which was Kelsa's first crossfit workout.
Helen is Three rounds for time:Run 400 meters1 1/2 pood Kettlebell X 21 swings (or 55 pound dumbbell swing)12 Pull-ups. I used a 26# kettlebell and did 34# of assistance on the pullups (level 7). I completed it in 9:34, way faster than my 11:21 I did it on August 21!!

Overall, as exercises and workouts are starting to repeat, because I have been in Crossfit program for so long, I can see the huge improvements in my strength, speed and endurance. I have dropped about 5 pounds on the scale and who knows how much body fat.

No I am going to rest the remainder of the day.

FYI 60 more days until the marathon.

Congrats on taking the leap and quitting a job you did not enjoy. Good luck with your new position and I hope something even better comes along very soon.
